Butterfly Fever

This took ages to paint but I was determined
the little butterfly needed a nice matching handmade, hand painted envelope. Im glad I did this, its given me some ideas for my mum's birthday card to make.

This rules of the May postcard swap was to use just two colour, I chose black and white.
As concentration was a must I painted and stitched
a little bit each day. When I got tired felt my concentration
span disapearing, I just left the project and went back
to it the next day. The Chroma black acrylic ink came in
useful.

Finally after lots of hard work, I got my postcard done. This was great fun to do and helped to open channels for other ideas for my family and friends. I just stitched and stitched, painted
in the garden on my little portable table and had such fun. I really enjoyed designing and painting the envelope ready for the butterfly to go in. I did try to work just to the postcard size but I found I didn't like size. Naughty me broke the rules and went a little bit bigger as the butterfly needed nice space around it. The envelope was painted using black chroma acrylic ink. The fiddly difficult part for me was the ironing onto the special vilene used for postcard swaps, Ive never used this before, this is expensive but worth it. I had to blanket stitch round the edge, I might have to touch over the edge of the butterfly with black sometimes happy little accidents are meant to be.
So if you fancy taking part in a postcard swap do join stitchinfingers such fun! Ive joined in another for June with the theme of Egypt.
Today Ive got to cut out the lining for my hexagon coat which is a gorgeous green leaf print I'm looking forward to going over to my friend's house Jean to get this done, so slowly the coat is coming together bit by bit. I'm skint but I'm rich with my threads, beads, materials, paints and ideas.
