Raining Cats and Dogs

Hey all....
I don't know where the saying comes from "Raining-Cats-and-dogs" but wow the weather outside is throwing it down with rain monsoon like rain, cold and heavy rain.
Betty my hoover has been having an asthma attack round my living room carpet and one of the dog's rugs feels naked because I've hoovered it and it looks so lost with out the dog hairs the bits of bones and treasures hidden under there snatched from the garbage bin when mummy's been asleep in quilt wonderland.
I'm going to make an afternoon trip to my quilt shop as they have a get together chinwag group where all quilters and bring and do what ever they are sewing chat to other quilt-holics and stasha-holics have a natter... talk and breathe quilts. I'm going to take my little square bits to sew stars in the centre which will become the centre of twelve log cabins. I'm going to show my latest quilting blocks and get help and advice, all yummy stuff.
Ive been browsing round my computer to see if theres any quilting projects I can show, there's an odd project which has been in my box for a very long time called the UFO project. A couple of years ago when I got knocked down by a car I put an advert in my latest sewing magazine at the time for projects to do.
One lady gave me all these hexagons, a hexagon centre. I just carried on, and I must admit I got so sick of it I just had to put it away. I did go on a quilting course years ago and they showed me how to do flying-geese. When I got home I didn't like the colours of pink and blue, I had gone off this so just left it, hid it away in a box.
Now that my quilting desires have come back again, when other projects are completed I may applique a nice pink heart in the middle then actually quilt it and raffle it for my favourite charity Tiadog rescue which rescues greyhounds and lurchers. All in mega weeks time of course.
I have got permission for the charity to go ahead with this quilt and try and raise money, well Ive got to get on with it first lol.
well I had better get myself ready to go to the fabulous quilt shop, take care all and happy quilting.

Have fun! I love that term Chinwag...

My group is called "Sew-n-tell" We do a whole lot more telling that sewing most times...

"Stitch-n-bitch" is another term for the same type of gathering. ("Bitch" being to complain in this sense rather than as a descriptor for a female dog.)

Hi Faith---here by way of Meggie. Have enjoyed browsing through your blog. Like a trip down memory lane for me,the references to hoovering! and bin men! and getting 'knocked down "by a car--ouch...Love your quilts. Log cabin is one of my favourites and your colours are gorgeous. Those needle cases are so pretty. Is Sratch a whippet/bunny hybrid?!Look at his picture again---see the bunny ears....

Loved the pics of your dogs.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
My grandson was in Hospital recently for a bad asthma attack. A woman with dogs came round the wards to vist, she has 2 Greyhounds, & she has them trained to visit the sick. Here was my grandson with a huge Black & White Greyhound called Jack, sitting up on his bed. Grandson loves dogs, & has a black & white poodle/maltese cross dog.
I have enjoyed visiting your blog. Lovely quilts.

I heard 'raining cats and dogs' came from thatched roof days when the animals lived above the house. When it rained, the thatch would give way and the animals (yes even the cats and dogs) would come 'raining' down...I like your blog...Beth in AZ where its down to freezing tonight..brrrr
